AI cover letter generator

Paste the job posting, pick the résumé you want the letter built from, and get a three-paragraph cover letter that quotes your actual achievements against the posting’s actual requirements. It will not invent a single thing you didn’t do.

Cover letters are part of Pro ($9.99/month). The résumé builder, ATS score and PDF download are free.

What it actually produces

This is a real, unedited example for a customer support role. Note what it does: it opens on something specific from the posting rather than “I am writing to apply”, and every claim in the middle paragraph is a number that came from the résumé it was given.

Dear Hiring Manager,

Your posting says the support team is moving from reactive ticket-clearing to owning retention outcomes. That is the shift I ran at Northwind: I inherited a queue averaging 34-hour first response and rebuilt triage around severity rather than arrival order, bringing it to 6 hours and lifting CSAT from 3.6 to 4.5 over two quarters.

Three things in the job description map directly to work I have already done. You need someone fluent in Zendesk and Intercom — I administered both, including the macro library and the escalation routing. You want measurable churn impact: I built the at-risk account flag that cut voluntary churn 11% in its first year. And you mention mentoring, which was the part I liked most — I onboarded five new reps and wrote the playbook they still use.

I am drawn to this role because the posting is unusually specific about outcomes rather than tools, which tells me the team measures what it ships. I would like to bring the same bias to your retention numbers.

I would welcome the chance to talk through how the first 90 days would look. I am available at your convenience.

Sincerely,
Maya Restrepo

How it works

  1. 1

    Point it at your résumé

Pick any résumé saved in your CVory account. Haven't built one yet? Paste your background as plain text instead — the generator works from that too.

  2. 2

    Paste the job description

The whole posting, not a summary. The generator reads it for the requirements worth answering and for the tone to match — a warm startup posting and a formal public-sector one should not get the same letter.

  3. 3

    Edit and send

You get an editable draft in under a minute. Cut anything that doesn't sound like you, then copy it or download the .txt.

Frequently asked questions

Is the cover letter generator free?
No — cover letter generation is part of CVory Pro, because every letter costs real money to generate. The resume builder, the real-time ATS score, all templates, and unwatermarked PDF and PNG downloads are free forever with no sign-up required to export. We would rather tell you that here than after you have typed everything in.
Will it invent things I never did?
No. The generator only sees the resume you point it at and the job description you paste, and it is explicitly instructed never to invent achievements, employers, or credentials that are not in your resume. If your resume is thin, the letter will be honest and short rather than padded with fiction. That is the trade-off we chose on purpose.
Do I need a finished resume first?
It helps, but it is not required. If you have not built one yet, you can paste your background straight into the generator and it will work from that. If you do have a saved resume, the letter references your actual bullet points and quoted numbers, which is what makes it specific rather than generic.
How long should a cover letter be?
Three to four short paragraphs, under 300 words. The generator targets that range because recruiters skim: a letter that runs a full page usually gets one glance at the opening line. Length is not what makes a letter persuasive — naming two or three concrete achievements that map to the posting's actual requirements is.
Can I edit the letter afterwards?
Yes, and you should. The output lands in an editable field so you can cut anything that does not sound like you, then copy it or download it as a .txt file. Treat it as a strong first draft that already knows your resume and the posting, not as something to send unread.
